William "Billy" H. Martinez, 58, from Gardner unexpectedly passed away on the morning of October 10, 2013.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator throughout his life and held jobs throughout the USA. He was a proud recipient of the Antarctica Service Medal for exploration and scientific achievement under the U.S. Antarctic Program by The Department of the Navy.

Born in La Veta, Colorado on September 22, 1930, she was a life-long Huerfano County resident and was a direct descendent of Charles and Minnie Spielman who settled in the La Veta area in 1888.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband Richard in 2007, her parents,J.J.andEdna Beamer, brother Russell Beamer, brother-in-law Freeman Bailey, brother Bud and sister-in-law Marge Keeling and nephew Bruce Bailey.

Emma (Stringari) Feiccabrino, whose unfailing good cheer brightened the counter of a Main Street Walsenburg shop for more than 30 years and enlivened countless family gatherings for many more years than that, died at her home Wednesday, September 18, with family members at her side. She was 92.

Our mother and Dad's wife of 54 years, Phyllis Joyce Corsentino McKedy, his "Sug" Darlya Sue McKedy Campbell, and his "Dolly" Dee Ann McKedy MacBride held his hand, stroked his face, kissed him and said "Goodbye." His eldest "girl" Debra Lynn McKedy Gottlieb was ministering abroad in Argentina.

Theodore Garfield “Ted” Pineda, Jr., 71,
of Walsenburg, passed away September 6, 2013 in Pueblo at the Sangre de Cristo Hospice House where he was a patient, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ted was born in Pueblo on September 23, 1941 to Theodore G. Pineda, Sr. and Theresa Martinez Pando. Ted attended local schools and later took on a trade of auto body and paint repair which he did most of his life.

Thomas E. Purdy, 89, of Walsenburg, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Mr. Purdy was born on December 13, 1923 in Shelbina, Missouri to Thomas M. and Pearl Butler Purdy.
A realtor by trade, Mr. Purdy owned and operated the Caywood Abstract Company until 1982. He was also a retired Master Sargeant of the United States Air Force.

Michael (Mike) L. Martinez, 58, formerly of Walsenburg, departed this life on August 29, 2013 in Cypress, CA. Mike spent most of his life in CA working as a
lineman for Southern California Edison. He loved the game of golf and also fishing with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Caroline V. Martinez, his father Joseph F. Martinez and his sister Lorraine.
Mike leaves, to forever cherish his memory, his loving wife Jean and children; Lauren, Dustin, Christie and KC. Mike is also survived by two granddaughters.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Gonzales and her grandson, Louie Sanchez.
Esperanza is survived by her daughters, Rose Marie (Ed) Sanchez of Walsenburg, Bernadette (Randy) Montoya of Albuquerque, NM; son, Bernard ‘BL’ L. Romero of Denver; as well as by 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren.

Charles Albert Stevenson was born in Monett, MO on July 10, 1914. He passed away on September 1, 2013.
He graduated from Depauw University in Greencastle, IN in 1935. From 1935 through 1947 he was employed by Stokely Foods in Indianapolis, IN. In 1947, he was hired by Curtis Burns Foods as chief chemist in Rochester, NY. He was a founding stockholder when it expanded to Curtis Burns, Co. in 1961.
Charles was elected to the New York Academy of Science and was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Health, London.
